Walksnail Ascent Lite+ Kit is a combination of a camera, video transmitter and antenna for the Walksnail Ascent digital video transmission system.
Walksnail Ascent is an HD system designed primarily for beginner and recreational pilots looking for an affordable alternative to analog video transmission. Ascent is a standalone system and is not compatible with the Walksnail Avatar system. It supports 720p/120fps mode for lower latency (recommended) and 1080p/60fps mode for higher image quality. The system is primarily suitable for shorter-range flights, where it offers a significantly clearer and more stable image compared to analog. Ascent supports OSD for both Betaflight and iNav. There are 3 standard channels and up to 8 channels in debug mode.
Ascent Lite+ is a lightweight unit suitable for smaller FPV drones, racing drones and wings, and can also be used in RC cars and boats. Compared to the Ascent Lite version, it adds a built-in microphone, higher transmission power and 1080p/120fps support. The Nano-size camera (12x14x15.8 mm) is equipped with a 1/2.8" sensor and a wide-angle lens with a 147° FOV in a 16:9 aspect ratio. It transmits video in 1080p or 720p resolution at 60, 100 or 120 fps with an average latency of 35 ms and a bitrate of up to 25 Mbps.
The microphone is integrated into the camera and transmits the sound of motors, propellers and the surroundings in real time. The unit itself has no internal memory or SD card slot. Video with audio is recorded to a microSD card in Walksnail Ascent goggles or the Ascent VRX Pro receiver in 720p/60, 100 and 120 fps modes and 1080p/60 fps mode. Audio is not recorded in 1080p/100 fps and 1080p/120 fps modes.
The video transmitter board measures 23.5x23.5 mm and has 20x20 mm mounting holes for M2 screws. The transmitter itself without the metal cover weighs only 2.75 g, while the complete kit with the cover weighs 10.5 g. The metal cover dissipates heat from the transmitter. Maximum transmission power is 500 mW (FCC); for the EU (CE), power is limited to under 14 dBm (25 mW). In standby mode, it transmits at only 10 mW; full power is activated after arming the flight controller or disabling standby mode. The transmitter automatically switches between channels in case of interference (“frequency hopping”), the channel can also be selected manually, and the connection is AES-256 encrypted to prevent accidental pairing with another unit. The antenna connects via an u.FL connector.
Input voltage is 3-12.6 V; the manufacturer recommends powering the transmitter from the 5 V output of the flight controller. The kit connects to the flight controller via UART and supports OSD in Canvas mode for Betaflight, iNav, FETtec, KISS and ArduPilot. With Ascent goggles and a Caddx GM1 V2 or GM3 V2 gimbal, it enables head tracking — camera control by head movement. The GM3 V2 gimbal requires an Ascent Lite+ adapter for installation (sold separately).
The kit works directly with Walksnail Ascent Goggles. With other FPV goggles, a monitor or TV, it can be used via the Walksnail Ascent VRX or Ascent VRX Pro receiver with HDMI output.
Before first use, we recommend checking and updating the unit firmware if necessary using Caddx PC Tool. Like other small digital video transmitters, the video transmitter heats up very quickly. Air must flow around the transmitter to cool it, so we recommend using a fan when setting up the drone or updating firmware.
Do not power on the video transmitter without an antenna connected.
