VAS Crosshair Xtreme Mini is a directional antenna with RHCP polarization and SMA connector or LHCP with RP-SMA connector (depending on variant). The antenna has a gain of 10dBic and operates in the 5300-6400MHz band. It is a reduced version of the popular Crosshair Xtreme antenna, nicknamed "patch killer" among pilots. It is designed for the receiving side — FPV goggles, ground station, or diversity receiver — and works with both analog and digital video transmission in the 5.8GHz band.
The antenna is based on patented vector-phasing technology, protected by patent US11442130. It gives the transmitted signal smooth rotation and reduces brief dropouts that other antennas cause the receiver to see as image breakup. The measured axial ratio of 0,99 means very clean circular polarization, which helps the antenna more effectively suppress reflections and the opposite-polarization signal. The wide bandwidth covers not only the common 5.8GHz channels, but also the lower 5.3GHz and upper 6GHz range.
The radiation beam is 120°, with a -3dB drop occurring only at ±30° from the axis. For a directional antenna, this is an unusually wide coverage. The antenna is tolerant of model movement and head turns and does not require precise aiming. Thanks to its small form factor, it can be conveniently mounted directly on FPV goggles. Even so, it remains directional and we do not recommend using it as the only receiver antenna. The ideal setup is a diversity receiver combined with an omnidirectional antenna, such as VAS Ion Pro or Victory. The directional antenna provides range and signal penetration through trees and buildings, while the omnidirectional one covers the nearby area, takeoffs, and landings.
