VAS Avenger XR16 5.8 GHz - 190mm RHCP SMA

VAS Avenger XR16 is a directional antenna with right-hand circular polarization RHCP, an SMA connector and 16.5dBic gain for the 5200-6400MHz band. It is the middle model in the Avenger series, intended for the receiving side during long-range flying. It is based on the patented Crosshair Xtreme antenna technology, which VAS enhanced with a parasitic waveguide (“parasitic waveguide”) — this increased not only the gain, but also the axial ratio to 0.99. A high axial ratio means very clean circular polarization, thanks to which the antenna more effectively suppresses reflections and signals with opposite polarization.

Higher gain is offset by a narrower radiation pattern. The beamwidth is 44°, with a -3dB drop occurring at ±15° off axis. The antenna therefore must be aimed at the model and is not suitable as the only receiver antenna. The manufacturer recommends combining it on a diversity receiver with an omnidirectional antenna, for example VAS Ion Pro or Victory. The directional antenna provides range and signal penetration through trees and buildings, while the omnidirectional one covers the nearby area, takeoffs and landings.

Compared with the more powerful XR18 (18dBic, 32° beam), the XR16 offers a noticeably wider field of view, is shorter and weighs roughly a third less — it is easier to aim with and more tolerant of model movement. Compared with the smallest XR15 (15dBic, 64° beam), it has higher gain and longer range. 

Dimensions are 190x70x65mm, weight 66g. The antenna housing is 3D printed, so minor surface imperfections are normal and do not affect functionality.
