Runcam WiFiLink 2 is a combination of a camera and a video transmitter for digital image transmission in the OpenIPC system. Runcam WiFiLink 2 is also compatible with the RubyFPV system.

OpenIPC and RubyFPV are open projects for digital FPV image transmission. They use IP cameras and Wi-Fi modules, from which an HD video transmission can be built for RC models with relatively low latency. These projects are often used for experimental or development FPV systems, where full control over hardware and software is necessary. Runcam WiFiLink2 is a pre-assembled and configured unit that greatly simplifies the use of OpenIPC or RubyFPV transmission.

For easy installation into the frame, the camera has a standard size of Micro (19mm). The camera uses an IMX415 sensor with a FOV of 160°, supporting resolutions of 1080P at 60/90 FPS or 720P at 120 FPS. The camera is connected to the transmitting unit via a MIPI cable, allowing a maximum transmission power of 800mW. The recommended power with RubyFPV is up to 320mW. It is enclosed in an aluminum heatsink, which aids in heat dissipation and protects sensitive electronics. The unit is equipped with an active fan for better cooling. For easy mounting in the drone frame, the transmitter has mounting holes of size M2 with a spacing of 25.5x25.5mm. The unit uses two antennas connected via a u.FL connector. For use on long-range models, we recommend upgrading to antennas with LHCP polarization. The unit has a slot for an SD card, which is used for recording images and uploading the configuration file. Configuration is also possible through the Ethernet port and OpenIPC Companion. The transmitting unit can be connected to the drone's flight controller via UART for OSD display.

The unit is powered by a voltage range of 9-22V with a maximum power consumption of 15W. The total weight of the module, including the cooling fan, is approximately 30g.

OpenIPC and RubyFPV are recommended for more technically skilled users. WiFi video transmissions are mainly suitable for FPV wings and drones with GPS stabilization. Due to higher latency, the transmission is not suitable for acrobatic freestyle or racing drones.
