Pilotix T256 (9mm) is a compact thermal camera with an analog CVBS (PAL) output designed for integration into smaller drones with analog video transmission. The camera is suitable for search and rescue operations, terrain monitoring, and inspections where thermal signatures need to be visible even in darkness, smoke, or fog. It weighs 20g, so it has minimal impact on the drone's flight characteristics.
The camera uses an uncooled Vanadium Oxide sensor with a resolution of 256x192 pixels and an F1.0 lens with a focal length of 9mm. The longer focal length provides a narrow field of view of 24.16° diagonally (19.38° horizontally, 14.58° vertically), allowing the camera to display more distant heat sources in greater detail than wide-angle variants. The detector operates in the 8-14µm band with NETD thermal sensitivity of ≤50mK, allowing it to distinguish even small temperature differences in the scene. The detector is specified for scene temperatures from -20 to +550°C with an accuracy of ±2°C.
The camera is powered by 5V and power consumption does not exceed 1.3W. The cable connects to the camera via a 16-pin connector on the rear of the board, which provides video, power, a serial interface, and USB 2.0. The manufacturer has not published documentation for configuring the camera via the serial interface. The camera body measures 21x21x30mm including the lens, making it comparable in size to mini FPV cameras. Threaded holes on the top and side of the body are used for mounting to the frame. The camera is specified for operating temperatures from -40 to +80°C and withstands vibrations of 6.06g and shocks of 80g.
The camera is intended for direct installation and comes in simple technical packaging without a retail box.
