MicoAir WiFi Link is a dualband WiFi telemetry module built on ESP32-C5 for wireless connection to Ground Control Station (GCS). The module is suitable for flight controllers with ArduPilot or PX4 firmware and is compatible with software such as Mission Planner, QGroundControl, and MicoPilot. Thanks to the module, there is no need to connect a laptop or phone via cable – flight controller parameters can be adjusted wirelessly directly in the field.

The core of the module is the function of transparent Serial ↔ UDP transmission – data from the flight controller's serial port is transmitted wirelessly as UDP packets to the GCS and back unchanged. The module is built on the ESP32-C5 chip and supports WiFi 6 (802.11ax) in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies ensure efficient transmission in networks with multiple devices – ideal for swarm applications.

The module offers two WiFi modes. In the basic AP mode, it creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot, which can be directly connected to a PC or phone – the range is up to 100 meters. AP mode is ideal for easy debugging without the need for any network infrastructure. In STA mode, the module connects to an existing router and communicates over the local LAN – the range can be extended up to 500 meters. STA mode is suitable for permanent installations or communication with multiple drones, where a powerful router is available.

In addition to WiFi, the module also supports Bluetooth (BLE) with a range of 10 meters for convenient debugging directly from a phone – BLE connection is currently supported only by the MicoPilot app. The default combination is 5 GHz AP + BLE. Switching to 2.4GHz WiFi automatically disables the Bluetooth module since both technologies share one frequency band and one antenna.

The module connects to the flight controller via UART. The default baud rate is 115200. SSID, password, IP address, baud rate, and UDP port can be configured via a web interface available in AP mode at http://192.168.4.1. Switching to STA mode and advanced settings are only available through AT commands sent via USB-C.

Firmware can be updated via the MicoAssistant app. The power supply is 5 V / 150 mA. Dimensions are 34.5×23.5×6 mm, weight 5.5 g without the antenna.
