iFlight Mach R5 Ultra Trainer 6S HDZero is a lightweight 5" racing drone with HDZero digital video transmission, suitable for training on race tracks and fast flying in open areas. HDZero is a digital video transmission system with very low latency, offering HD image quality and response suitable for racing.
The frame with a diagonal motor-to-motor distance of 190mm has a compact X geometry. It is made from T700 carbon fiber with 5mm arms and 2mm plates. The centre plate is machined from 7075 aluminium alloy with weight-reduction cut-outs. According to the manufacturer, it is up to 15% lighter than a conventional carbon fiber plate and dampens vibrations better. Frame parts are aligned by CNC guide pins. These eliminate play in the structure, reducing resonance and vibrations at high speed. The arm roots are reinforced for higher impact resistance. LED strips connect directly to the flight controller via 4-pin connectors. LED strips are not included.
The core of the drone is the iFlight Borg Mini H7 stack. The flight controller uses an STM32H743 processor, ICM42688-P gyro, barometer for altitude measurement, and 32MB blackbox memory. Two independent voltage regulators (BEC), 12V 2A and 5V 2.5A, provide stable power for peripherals. The HDZero video transmitter is powered from the 12V rail, which can be switched off using a switch on the radio transmitter. This is useful while waiting for the start of a race, when the transmitter does not unnecessarily heat up or interfere with other pilots. LED strip outputs have short-circuit protection, so a short circuit on the LEDs will not affect flight controller operation. The drone is equipped with an ELRS receiver at 2.4GHz. The receiver is integrated directly into the flight controller and has 100mW telemetry power. ExpressLRS is an open-source RC system with long range, low latency, and a high refresh rate.
The Borg 60RS 4-in-1 ESC handles a continuous 60A. It runs BLHeli_32 firmware and supports bidirectional DShot and telemetry. Polymer capacitors are integrated on the board, so no external capacitor is required. Propulsion is provided by iFlight R5 2207 2100Kv motors combined with three-blade iFlight Nazgul R5 V2 propellers.
Video is transmitted by the HDZero Race V3 video transmitter, the third generation of HDZero racing transmitters, with 25/200mW output power in the 5.8GHz band. The transmitter board is 1.6mm thick, and small components are secured with adhesive for greater crash resistance. The antenna is secured with a metal bracket and screws. The HDZero Nano 90 camera with a 1/3" sensor is the first HDZero camera to capture 90 frames per second. It supports 540p90 mode for racing, 540p60 mode for better signal penetration and range, and 720p60 mode. Video is received by HDZero goggles or a receiver, while 540p90 mode requires HDZero goggles. Do not power on the video transmitter without an antenna connected.
Recommended batteries are 6S with a capacity of 1200-1550mAh and an XT60 connector. Batteries are not included.
The drone is supplied in BNF version, so an ELRS 2.4GHz radio transmitter, HDZero FPV goggles, batteries, and a charger must be purchased separately.
