iFlight Defender 20 Lite X O4 Wide is a lightweight 2" cinewhoop with the DJI O4 Wide Air Unit digital video transmission system, suitable for indoor flying and relaxed cinematic outdoor flights. Thanks to the ducted propellers and a weight of 75 g without battery, it is relatively safe to fly. With the reference 2S 520 mAh battery, the takeoff weight is around 110 g, well below the 250 g limit.

The propeller guards are secured with four screws and can be removed in no time. The drone then flies with exposed propellers and is noticeably more agile, but the propellers lose protection when contacting the ground or obstacles. The camera is housed in a separate vibration-damped mount, preventing the distracting “jello” effect in recordings. The battery can be mounted in two ways — original iFlight packs are held by a printed holder that can be removed after rotating it by 90°, while other sizes can be secured with a standard strap.

Flight control is handled by the iFlight Borg F7 AIO board, integrating the flight controller, ESCs, ELRS receiver with built-in antenna, and buzzer. The flight controller is based on an STM32F722 processor with an ICM42688 gyro, SPA06-003 barometer for altitude measurement, and 16 MB of blackbox memory. The ESCs handle a continuous current of 18 A and use BLHeli_32 firmware. The drone comes with Betaflight firmware from the factory. Power is provided by Defender 16 1103 14000 Kv motors combined with three-blade 2020 propellers with a 2" diameter. Power is supplied via an XT30 connector.

Digital video transmission is provided by the DJI O4 Wide Air Unit. The Wide designation means this is the factory wide-angle version of the unit — instead of 117.6°, it offers a 159° FOV, which is particularly useful in confined spaces where a narrower view would not cover the entire scene. The 1/2" CMOS sensor records up to 4K/60fps to 23 GB of internal memory, replacing the need for an external HD camera; the unit does not have a microSD card slot. Video is transmitted to the goggles in 1080p/100fps; in Racemode, latency drops to as low as 20 ms. The transmission supports Canvas mode for classic flight controller OSD. Image stabilization is available via DJI RockSteady or Gyroflow. We do not recommend leaving the drone powered on for a long time on the ground — the video unit is enclosed in a compact housing without airflow and heats up quickly.

The drone is equipped with an ELRS receiver operating at 2.4 GHz, integrated directly on the AIO board. ExpressLRS is an advanced open-source RC system with long range, low latency, and a high refresh rate.

The video unit is intended for use with DJI Goggles 3 or DJI Goggles N3. DJI Goggles 2 or DJI Integra can also be used, but Racemode is not available and the maximum bitrate is limited to 50 Mbps.

Recommended batteries are 2S packs with a capacity of 450-550 mAh and an XT30 connector. Batteries are not included.

Important notice: The DJI O4 camera uses a new generation of gyroscopes that are more sensitive to vibrations. This may affect the proper operation of RockSteady and Gyroflow stabilization.
