Flywoo Explorer LR 4 V2 O4 Wide is a lightweight 4" long-range drone with DJI O4 Wide digital video transmission, suitable for long-range flying and filming without an action camera. Without battery it weighs 162 g, and with a suitable battery it can get under 250 g.

The frame uses a Deadcat configuration, where the front arms are shifted further back and to the sides, so the propeller edges are not visible in the image or recording. Compared to the first version, only the camera mount has changed: the camera is now mounted on four rubber dampers, which minimize vibration transfer for smooth video and easy stabilization in Gyroflow. This modification responds to the more sensitive I469D gyroscope in newer DJI O4 unit batches. The package includes two carbon side plates, which are mounted under the motors and increase the frame's torsional rigidity. We recommend installing them when flying in wind or in a more dynamic flying style.

Flight is handled by the Flywoo GOKU F722 Pro Mini V2 45A stack. The flight controller is built on the STM32F722 processor with an ICM42688 gyro, a barometer for altitude measurement, and 16 MB of memory for Blackbox. The board also includes 10 V/2 A and 5 V/2 A BECs for powering peripherals. The GOKU G45M ESCs handle up to 45 A and use 32-bit firmware. All peripherals (GPS, RC receiver, video transmitter, and buzzer) connect via connectors without soldering. Propulsion is provided by NIN V2 1404 2750 Kv motors combined with 4024-2 bi-blade propellers. The drone is equipped with an ELRS receiver on 2.4 GHz and a GOKU GM10 Mini V3 GPS module, which enables automatic return-to-home. OSD displays speed, distance, and direction to the home point. Also preinstalled is a Flywoo Finder buzzer with its own battery — it starts beeping and flashing even if the main battery is disconnected in a crash, and lasts for several hours of operation.

Digital video transmission is provided by the DJI O4 Wide Air Unit. It is an original DJI O4 unit with a different lens — instead of 117.6°, it offers 159° FOV. The 1/2" CMOS sensor records up to 4K/60 fps to 23 GB of internal storage; this recording replaces an external HD camera. The unit does not have a microSD card slot. The image is transmitted to the goggles in 1080 p/100 fps with a bitrate of up to 60 Mbps; in Racemode, latency drops to as low as 20 ms. The transmission supports Canvas mode for standard OSD from the flight controller.

The video unit is intended for use with DJI Goggles 3 or DJI Goggles N3 and DJI Controller 3. The unit can also be used with DJI Goggles 2 or DJI Integra and DJI Controller 2. However, in that case Racemode is not available and the maximum bitrate is limited to 50 Mbps.

CLI and firmware

Important notice: The DJI O4 camera uses a new generation of gyroscopes that are more sensitive to vibration. This may affect the proper function of RockSteady and Gyroflow stabilization.
