FlyingRC BEC 2-8S 10A step-down is a powerful voltage converter for powering servos, receivers, cameras, video transmitters, and other onboard electronics directly from the main battery. The input voltage corresponds to 2-8S LiPo. The input must always be at least 0.8 V higher than the set output.
The output voltage is selected by bridging solder pads next to the input. Unbridged pads mean the default 5 V, bridging the pad marked 6 V gives 6 V, and the 7 V pad then gives 7 V. Without a heatsink and airflow, the converter delivers a continuous 8 A. Presence of input voltage is indicated by the LED marked PWR.
Control is handled by the TI LM61495 circuit with current-mode control, which allows the converter to respond very quickly to sudden load changes. This is especially appreciated by servos, which draw power in pulses. The board is four-layer, 1.60 mm thick, with an immersion gold 1 µm finish. Dimensions 33,9 x 18,5 x 5,5 mm and a weight of 5 g allow the module to fit even in tight builds; with the heatsink, the height increases to 10,3 mm and weight to 7,6 g.
The package includes an aluminum finned heatsink, which is glued to the underside of the board with thermal adhesive. The adhesive is not included. Also included is a 680 µF 16 V electrolytic capacitor, which is soldered to the converter output.
Important notice: The capacitor is rated for 16 V and is intended exclusively for the output side. It cannot be connected to the 2-8S input. Correct polarity must also be observed - reversing the polarity will destroy it.
