FlyingRC BEC 2-12S 5A step-down is a compact step-down voltage converter for powering servos, receivers, cameras, video transmitters and other onboard electronics directly from the main battery. The 6-60V input voltage corresponds to 2-12S LiPo, making it suitable for large aircraft models and high-voltage builds. The input must always be at least 0.8V higher than the set output.
The output voltage is selected by bridging the solder pad marked 12V. An open pad means the default 5V; when bridged with solder, the converter outputs 12V. We recommend selecting the output voltage before connecting sensitive electronics to the converter.
Continuous current depends on the input voltage. When powered from 6S, the converter continuously supplies 5A at 5V and 4A at 12V; when powered from 12S, it continuously supplies 3.5A at 5V and 3A at 12V. The board is four-layer, 1.60mm thick, with 1µm immersion gold finish. Dimensions of 30.01x17.82x5.52mm and a weight of 5.4g allow the module to fit even in tight builds.
The input wires (VIN) are soldered to the battery, while the output wires (VO) are soldered to the powered load. The package includes a 220µF 35V electrolytic capacitor, which is soldered to the converter output side. The capacitor's positive terminal is the longer lead.
Important warning: The capacitor is rated for 35V and must only be connected to the output (VO). It cannot be connected to an input voltage of up to 12S. Correct polarity must also be observed – reverse polarity will destroy it.
