DJI O4 Wide

DJI O4 Wide Air Unit is a combination of a camera, video transmitter and antenna for the DJI O4 digital system, suitable for smaller FPV drones up to 3" in size. Compared to the standard DJI O4 Air Unit, the camera has a wide-angle lens with a 159° FOV (the standard O4 has 117.6°), providing a significantly wider view of the drone's surroundings. The rest of the unit remains the same as the O4 Air Unit – the same transmission module, sensor and transmission features. This is an original DJI unit, not a subsequently modified version.

DJI O4 is a top-tier digital video transmission system for FPV drones. The set consists of a camera, transmission module and one antenna. Video is transmitted in 1080p resolution at up to 100fps with H.265 compression and a bitrate of up to 60Mbps. The lowest latency is 20ms with DJI Goggles 3 in Racemode. For racing pilots, Racemode is available with low latency and up to 8 channels for simultaneous flight of multiple drones. The transmission supports Canvas mode for classic OSD from the flight controller with Betaflight 4.3.0 and newer.

The camera has a 1/2" CMOS sensor and records directly on the drone in up to 4K at 60fps (in both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios) or 1080p at up to 120fps with a bitrate of up to 100Mbps. Video is saved to the internal 23GB memory; the unit does not have a microSD card slot. The lens has an f/2.8 aperture, a 16mm equivalent focal length and focuses from 1m to infinity. Image stabilization is available instantly via DJI RockSteady or later using Gyroflow. However, the full 159° field of view is only available when recording in 4:3 aspect ratio, with FOV mode set to „Wide“ and electronic stabilization disabled. With RockSteady enabled, the camera records only in „Standard“ mode with a narrower view, so for a wide view we recommend recording without stabilization and stabilizing the footage later in Gyroflow. The unit does not support the D-Log M color profile.

The transmission module measures 30x30x6mm and has M2 mounting holes with 25.5x25.5mm spacing; the manufacturer recommends mounting it using soft mounts. The camera measures 20.5x14x20.5mm and is therefore larger than the standard O4 camera. The camera and transmitter are connected by a 50mm coaxial cable, while the transmitter connects to the flight controller via a 50mm 3-in-1 cable. The complete unit with camera weighs 13.3g, while the transmitter alone weighs 5.1g. The transmitter is powered by 3.7-13.2V (1-3S). When powered from a BEC, a BEC rated at least 10W is required (e.g. 5V/2A); when powered by a 1S battery, keep the cables short to prevent the transmitter input voltage from dropping below 3.7V.

The transmitter heats up quickly, so it must be cooled when configuring it on the bench or while waiting for GPS satellites before flight. Before first use, the unit must be activated in DJI Assistant 2 (FPV Series), otherwise transmission power is limited to 20mW. Do not power on the video transmitter without an antenna connected.

The DJI O4 Wide Air Unit is designed for use with DJI Goggles 3 or DJI Goggles N3 and DJI Controller 3.

The unit can also be used with DJI Goggles 2 or DJI Integra and DJI Controller 2. However, Racemode is not available in this case and the maximum bitrate is limited to 50 Mbps. To use it with a DJI controller, the SBUS protocol must be configured in the flight controller.
