DarwinFPV ApeStyle D5 Analog - 6S ELRS with GPS

DarwinFPV ApeStyle D5 Analog is a durable 5" freestyle drone with analog video transmission, suitable for acrobatics, fast flying in open areas and longer flights with an action camera. This is the Standard version with an ELRS receiver, GPS module and rear LED light with two buzzers. The frame and electronics are designed to withstand crashes and flying in harsh conditions, making the drone suitable for pilots who are just starting with freestyle.

The ApeStyle D5 frame in DC configuration has a diagonal motor-to-motor distance of 220mm. The arms are made of 5mm carbon fibre and are reinforced at the root with a tongue-and-groove joint, reducing arm breakage and play in the structure. The middle plate is 2mm thick and the bottom plate is 2,5mm thick. The extended top plate accommodates higher-capacity batteries for longer flight times. The frame has two XT60 connectors – at the front and rear – keeping the wiring tidy and making accessory connection easier.

The electronics are based on a potted DarwinFPV Cement F4 60A stack with IP67 protection, protecting the electronics from water, dust and impacts. IP67 protection applies to short-term immersion, so we do not recommend leaving the drone in water for extended periods. The flight controller uses an AT32F435 processor clocked at up to 288MHz and has 16MB blackbox memory, but no barometer. It runs Betaflight firmware and has a waterproof USB-C connector. The drone is equipped with an ELRS receiver operating at 2,4GHz. ExpressLRS is an open-source RC system with long range, low latency and a high refresh rate. The DarwinFPV M1018 GPS module is mounted at the front, placing it further from the video transmitter and reducing interference. It enables automatic return to the take-off point (GPS Rescue) and displays speed, distance and direction to the take-off point in the OSD. The factory settings use failsafe in “drop” mode, so we recommend checking the failsafe and GPS Rescue settings in Betaflight before the first flight. The rear light with 49 LEDs and two buzzers helps locate the drone at night or after a crash in tall grass.

The Cement 60A 4-in-1 ESC handles a continuous 60A per motor and runs BlueJay firmware. Power is provided by DarwinFPV 2507 1800Kv motors combined with Gemfan Hurricane 51499 tri-blade propellers. Compared to common 2207 motors, 2507-size motors provide higher torque at low RPM, making the drone steadier while hovering and better at holding its line in wind. According to the manufacturer, the drone reaches a maximum horizontal speed of up to 170km/h.

Video is transmitted by the DarwinFPV H1 analog camera and a DarwinFPV 5,8GHz video transmitter with adjustable output power of up to 1,6W (200/600/800/1600mW). An action camera can be mounted on the drone for recording. Do not power on the video transmitter without an antenna connected.

Recommended batteries are 6S with a capacity of 1300-1500mAh and an XT60 connector. Batteries are not included.

IP67 protection applies only to the stack with the flight controller and ESCs; the drone as a whole is not waterproof.
