AOS Supernova 4220 415Kv is a powerful motor suitable for large VTOL aircraft, heavy-lift and long-range drones with 13" propellers and a 6-8S LiPo battery. It is part of the Supernova series, designed by Chris Rosser based on his own FPV motor performance model and manufactured by RCinPower. Compared to the 350Kv version, it has higher RPM and lower winding resistance, making it more suitable for smaller propellers and more dynamic flight.
The 42mm diameter and 20mm tall stator has a 12N14P configuration, with a winding resistance of 30mΩ. The motor achieves its highest efficiency, over 86%, in the 6-18A range. With 13" propellers on 8S, this corresponds to approximately half throttle. With an HQProp 15x7x3 propeller, it delivers up to 8.4kg of thrust. However, current draw rises to 86.9A and the motor heats up to 85 °C after just 5 seconds at full throttle. Therefore, we do not recommend 15" propellers on 8S for continuous operation.
The propeller mounts on a 6mm hollow shaft or with four M3 screws on a 12x12mm bolt pattern in the bell. The motor mounts to the frame with four screws through M4 30x30mm mounting holes. It weighs 330 grams (with 3cm cables). We recommend pairing it with ESCs rated for at least 80A.
