S500 is an affordable frame with a diagonal distance of 50 cm that can hold up to 12" propellers. The frame is suitable for building a cost-effective test platform with ArduPilot firmware, which offers ample space for sensor placement and additional payload. The frame is not suitable for building a classic freestyle FPV quadcopter.
The frame is assembled from plastic arms reinforced with carbon tube for increased rigidity. The bottom and top plates are made from circuit board, with the bottom plate also serving as a power distribution board (PDB) for separate regulators. On the bottom of the drone, there are two fiberglass tubes that serve as a universal platform for attaching any payload. Thanks to the plastic legs, there is approximately 13 cm of space for payload under the drone.
The frame has motor holes with diagonal distances of 16 × 19 mm or 19 × 25 mm. There are no mounting holes for a standard 30.5 × 30.5 mm stack on the drone. Mounting a standard flight controller from an FPV drone can be resolved with a 3D printed adapter. There is a height space of 19 mm in the drone.
